For UC Berkeley Undergraduates:

The Social Origins Lab typically accepts new research assistants at the beginning of each semester, dependent on lab needs and capacity. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply! Our lab explores how social and cognitive abilities arise and interact with one another in human development and across species and cultures. Please review our ‘Publications’ page for an insight into our current work. Our research studies in Berkeley primarily involve working with children of various age ranges. Responsibilities for research assistants include running studies with young children in museums and schools, helping to recruit participants, collecting and coding video data, and assisting with administrative tasks. Minimum expected time commitment is 9hrs/wk. We have opportunities available through URAP, Work Study, and Psych 199!

If you are in the Bay Area and would like to apply to become a volunteer research assistant in our lab, please email socialoriginsmanager@berkeley.edu with a cv and a statement of interest. Note: We cannot accept volunteers under 18 years of age or sponsor visas.

Each year, we host an 8-week summer internship packed with professional development events, one-on-one mentorship, social events, and lots of research! Come back in late fall 2024 for the summer 2025 application details.

We will not be accepting new graduate students in the upcoming cycle.
